Botox is the most popular cosmetic procedure available today. It’s approved uses include the treatment of muscle spasms, severe underarm sweating, chronic migraine headaches, and of course, wrinkles. Botox works by reducing the activity of muscles in the face that overtime leads to fine lines and wrinkles.
Botox is short for botulinum toxin, a purified toxic. This means that Botox contains no bacteria and does not have a risk of infection. When done correctly and be a trained professional, Botox is a safe procedure.
If you’re considering Botox to minimize fine lines and wrinkles but are feeling unsure or anxious about the process, here’s what you can expect at your first appointment:
At your first Botox appointment, we will discuss your problem areas and goals. Are you looking to eliminate forehead wrinkles? A furrowed brow? Crow’s feet? Understanding what you’d like to accomplish and setting realistic expectations is a great start.
Botox treatments aren’t done with a single injection. It takes several small injections, spaced out between your brows and around your forehead. When the procedure is over, don’t expect to see immediate results. It can take up to two weeks to see the full effects of Botox injections. On average, Botox effects will last anywhere from 3-5 months and doesn’t require any recovery time. You’ll achieve the best results if you continue with the injections.
Botox injections are available at our Hudson and Siren locations.
